William Morris And The Arts And Crafts: Design And Daily Life
Day time course sponsored by the University of Toronto Arts, Humanities and Science: Ceramics And Crafts. Eight week course. William Morris (1834 - 1896) was an accomplished designer of wallpaper, tapestries, furniture, ceramic tiles, stained glass and typography, as well as an acclaimed poet, socialist and political activist. Focusing on his aim of social reform through joy in labour and beauty for all, this series of slide-illustrated lectures offers both an overview of Morris's role in the international Arts and Crafts movement and a reassessment of his works. To receive the President's and Treasurer's reports; Board nominations and election of incoming directors; the AGM will be followed at 8pm with a photograph and slide presentation by the participants on the recent trip to Iceland. Open to members and their guests. Free. Refreshments will be served. New members are urged to join in this evening of fun and reminiscence.
