about the society

To Promote the Study of

William Morris

Founded in 1971, the William Morris Society in the United States is a group of scholars and enthusiasts brought together in fellowship by our shared interest in the life and works of William Morris.

Along with our affiliate societies in the United Kingdom and Canada, we aim to promote study of and interest in Morris and his associates through publications, lectures, conferences, tours, museum visits, and social gatherings.

Members of the Society receive the Journal of William Morris Studies, published by the UK Society, and the US society magazineUseful and Beautiful, both published biannually.

Visit our membership page to learn more about the benefits of joining.

Previous WMS-US Website

The William Morris Society in the United States has had a web presence since 1997 – very early for an organization of our scale and scope. Over almost a quarter century, we have been committed to making information and publications about Morris digitally available to all.

As part of that effort, we have created an archive of our previous website in order to preserve the information it held about Morris and the history of the WMS-US.
