Glessner House, a National Historic Landmark in Chicago’s South Loop, is pleased to welcome members of The William Morris Society in the United States for a special reception and program. The evening will begin at 6:30 pm with generous food and beverage and a time to mingle with fellow Society members. At 7:00 pm, Glessner House Executive Director and Curator, William Tyre, will give a short presentation on the influence of the English Arts & Crafts movement on the decoration of the house, completed in 1887. After the presentation, attendees will have a chance to take docent-led tours of the house which features numerous original and reproduced wallpapers, textiles, and rugs by Morris & Co., alongside fireplace tiles and other objects by William De Morgan, W. A. S. Benson, and Edward Burne-Jones.
