The board of the William Morris Society in the United States has a sub-committee dedicated to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. Our goals include removing barriers to participation; outreach; co-programming; and acknowledging colonial histories.

We have introduced a free digital membership for students in order to make our resources more accessible.

We have launched a new Undergraduate Student Prize to further encourage and reward innovative work related to Morris and his interests.

We are working to broaden the scope of our programming and we are eager to develop collaborations with other groups.

The topic for our 2023 session at the CAA conference is “Rethinking Craft: Colonialism, Postcolonialism, Decolonization.”

We are developing a list of resources for Morris scholars and enthusiasts who are
committed to decolonial and anti-racist work. We will make an announcement when this list is posted to our website and we will continue to update it regularly.
