Call for Applications
The William Morris Society in the United States is delighted to announce a new annual Diversity Award (WMDA). The WMDA intends to encourage, support and promote projects that contribute to our society’s mission to improve diversity, equity, inclusion and access in William Morris studies. Project outcomes could take many shapes, including academic publications, works of art or literature, exhibitions, digital resources, and courses. Artists, scholars, teachers, museum professionals, collectors and writers are invited to apply.
To be considered for this award, an individual or team must be nominated or self-nominated. In-progress and completed projects are eligible, but should not have been completed more than two years before the application deadline.
To nominate or self-nominate, please submit the following to williammorrissocietyus@gmail.com by October 31, 2023:
- A description of the project in 500 words or less explaining how it satisfies/addresses the Society’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and access
- Supporting materials on the diversity of the project, such as photographs of artworks, event programs, links to project websites, published outcomes, etc.
- A two-page CV (if self-nominating)
- Include (if self-nominating) a one-page letter of recommendation from an individual endorsing the project who can corroborate your diversity initiatives and experience
The recipient of the Diversity Award of the William Morris Society in the United States will receive $250 and an invitation to share their work with the Society.
